What a competitor finder actually measures
Three columns, and what each one meant for the example above.
Shared keywords
How many search terms the two domains both rank for in the top 100. This is the whole definition of a search competitor: not the same industry, the same results pages.
photoai.com and fotor.com share 1,190 keywords. Nobody would file them in the same category.
Their keyword total
How many terms the competitor ranks for overall. A rival with 80,000 keywords and a rival with 2,000 are different problems even if they share the same 600 with you.
fotor.com ranks for 80,124 terms; photoai.com for about 2,000. One of them is a side business for the other.
Average rank on shared terms
Where the competitor sits, on average, for the keywords you both target. Lower is stronger. This is the column that says who is actually winning the overlap.
canva.com averages #5 on the 755 terms it shares with photoai.com. That is the rival to study first.
Competitors keywords, not competitor logos
Ask a founder who their competitors are and you get a list of companies that sell the same thing. Ask Google and you get a different list: the pages that show up where that founder wants to show up. For photoai.com, an AI photo generator, the search competitors are photo editors, a stock library and a design tool, because those are the sites ranking for "ai headshot", "photo enhancer" and the rest of the terms it targets. A seo competitor analysis tool that starts from industry labels would miss every one of them.
Ordered by overlap, not by brand size
The list is ordered by competitors keywords rather than by how big the brand is. The site sharing 1,200 terms with you is the one whose pages you should read, even if it is a side feature of a company ten times bigger. And it is why a "find similar websites" search gives a different answer: similar is about audience, this is about results pages.
From the list to the next step
A competitor list is only useful if every row leads somewhere. Each one here does.
read their story
Hundreds of competitors already have a public growth report — how they got their first users, dated and sourced. Those rows say read report and cost nothing. Browse the library →
see what they advertise
One click sends a competitor to the ads tool: their Meta and Google ads, the copy, the landing pages, and how long each ad has been running. Competitor ads →
watch what they ship
Add any row to a monitor and get the URLs the day they publish a new page, section or language. Competitor monitoring →

How do I find a competitor website?
Enter your own domain, or any domain, and pick a market. The competitor finder returns the sites that rank for the same keywords in that market, ordered by how many keywords they share with the one you entered. The free preview shows the top five without an account; signing in shows the full list.
Who are my competitors — the ones I know, or the ones ranking for my keywords?
For search, the second group. The companies you think of as rivals sell what you sell; the sites that take your traffic rank where you want to rank, and those are often publishers, marketplaces or tools from a neighbouring category. This finder lists search competitors, which is why an AI photo app sees photo editors and stock sites in its list.
Is there a free tool to find similar websites?
This one, for the top five. Note the difference from a similar-sites tool: similar-sites tools group domains by audience or topic, this competitor finder groups them by the keywords they rank for. If you want to know who is actually taking search traffic from a domain, the keyword overlap is the number that answers it.
How is this different from a competitor research tool like Semrush?
The list itself comes from the same kind of keyword-overlap data. What sits behind each row is different: for many domains we already have a public growth report you can read for free, every row can be sent to the competitor ads tool to see what they advertise, and any row can be added to a monitor that watches their site for new pages. The finder is the first step of that chain, not a standalone report.
Which market does it check?
You pick one of eight markets. Keyword overlap is computed inside that market, so a domain can have a different competitor list in the US and the UK. Pick the market you sell in.
Is it free?
The preview is free and needs no account: the top five competitors for any domain, up to 3 lookups an hour. Signing up is free and comes with up to 10 credits; the full list costs 2 credits per fresh lookup, and repeating a domain within a week costs nothing. No card is needed to sign up.
Sign in, enter a domain, and get the full competitor list with report links, ads and monitoring one click away.
